Kingdom Service

The Profitable Venture

Part 1: Why We Serve

"You must serve only the LORD your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness..." (See Exodus 23:25-26, NLT)

Introduction: Work That Pays

Many people think serving in church is a waste of time. It costs time, strength and money, and nobody pays a salary. But kingdom service is not a loss. It is a covenant, and God pays His servants well. When we serve Him with our time, talents, strength and resources, He promises blessing, health, long life and fulfillment.

Why Should We Serve God?

It is a privilege. God did not have to include us. He often chooses ordinary people so that no one can boast (See 1 Corinthians 1:26-29). It is light work. Jesus said His yoke fits perfectly and His burden is light. God notices. He will not forget how hard you have worked for Him.

What Is Kingdom Service?

Kingdom service is using what God has given us (time, strength, talents and money) to advance His kingdom. It is not for pastors alone. A servant of God is anyone in full-time obedience to God and His Word. Job, a businessman. David, a king. Daniel, a captive. Abraham, a patriarch. Paul, an apostle.

Conclusion: Serve Knowing Why

If you serve only out of habit, you will tire. If you serve out of understanding, you will last. Serving God is a privilege. Do it with understanding.

Part 2: The Covenant of Service

"The Ark of the LORD remained in Obed-edom's house for three months, and the LORD blessed Obed-edom and his entire household." (See 2 Samuel 6:11, NLT)

Is Kingdom Service a Covenant?

Yes. God makes promises to those who serve Him. Prosperity. Those who obey and serve Him will spend their days in prosperity (See Job 36:11). Health. He promised to take sickness away from those who serve Him (See Exodus 23:25). Honor. He says He will honor those who honor Him (See 1 Samuel 2:30).

What Can We Learn From Obed-Edom?

Obed-Edom was not a king, priest or prophet. But the Ark of the Covenant stayed in his house, and his life changed. He honored God's presence. His whole house was blessed. His service continued. The blessing lasted for generations.

What Are the Benefits of Kingdom Service?

Scripture lists seven: Divine blessings, Divine health, Long life, Prosperity, Honor, Distinction, and Fulfillment in life.

Conclusion: Welcome His Presence

Obed-Edom did not do anything flashy. He opened his house, and God did the rest. You do not need a title to serve. You need a welcoming heart. Welcome His presence. The blessing follows.
